Also the 12" 10Tons of Dope, featuring remixes from Rootsman & Freedom Satellite including vocals added by Dillinger has been released.

2001

Dubblestandart produces their forthcoming longplayer under the working title STREETS OF DUB. 2002 is envisioned as release date.

Mad Professor from Ariwa Studios/ London finishes a remix version from the Playerhater track during spring, which is to be released on the forthcoming Dubblestandart 12".

Dubblestandart play's at the opening night for the "Monkey Lounge" in Vienna: A monthly club for people from "the music business" to come together, talk about new projects and joint ventures. It should also be a presentation platform for new bands and "progressive ideas".

In may the 12" Vinyl Playerhater is released. Therefore Paul Zasky met his partner Devon Denton in Kingston/ Jamaica to produce a track with local artists. Doctor Marshall (Producer of Junior Kelly, Lexus, Capelton, Sizzla & many others) did a hi-tek dub version of Playhater.
Danny Axeman (musician for a countless number of current artists in JA), Bongo Hermann from the Mighty Diamonds and Sanda P worked on that track.
Work was done at Anchor Studio/ The Music Works Studio Complex.

2000

Dubblestandart took part in the DANCEHALLFIEBER project: a compilation of sixteen tracks contributed by German, Austrian and Swiss dancehall & reggae artists: All lyrics are in German. Dubblestandart supplied the tune Das Ventil - Keep The Fire Burning, which is a cover version of a song originally performed by Marcia Griffith.

Aside from their work with Dubblestandart, DS-founder Paul Zasky & co-producer/ former drummer Robbie Ost produced tracks for their electronic project, RunnersHigh. In the year 2000, a variety of songs and/ or albums featuring a RunnersHigh track have been released: The 12-inch vinyl 10 TONS OF DOPE featuring Dillinger & RunnersHigh was produced in Jamaica and released on Palz Productions, owned by Devon Denton. The track Disrespect has been released on the CD ELECTRONIC RESISTANCE, a compilation intended to support the cause of protesting against Austrias controversial rightwing government. During summer Runners High released the 12-inch vinyl DEBUT, which contains six tracks, most of which could be considered breakbeats. Two songs complete this production, one of which featuring German lyrics.

In summer 2000, Rolling Stone magazine produced the CD DUB AND BEYOND as an add-on to one of their issues, containing songs from Sly & Robbie, Dub Syndicate, Bim Sherman, as well as Mad Professor. On this compilation, Dubblestandart is featured with their song Dinkel Dub from the 96 release VIENNA DUB MELANGE. This enabled Dubblestandart to be put on the world map in one fell swoop, disseminating their cool, hip and smooth DS sound effectively among a huge audience. This very sound did not go unnoticed, among others, with the German reggae & dub label echo beach, who as a result have decided to release Dinkel Dub on their forthcoming KING SIZE DUB sampler, to be released in the early spring of 2002.

1999

In late '99 Dubblestandart released the Album SOUNDS FROM EUROLAND, which contains unreleased tracks and remixes of tunes completed between the years of 1990 and 2000. The idea and focus was to show the broad spectrum of sound the band has outputted within the last decade. Centered in the heart of Europe, Dubblestandart always express their ideology, inspirations and particular perception of the modern world on the basis of the rich heritage of reggae music, and especially dub. In order to promote this new album, Dubblestandart performed all over central Europe, mostly at smaller venues and clubs in Austria & Italy.

1998

Touring Austria, Germany & Italy as the opening act at several venues and as backing band for Dillinger, we played Wiesen Spring Vibration, Vienna Summer Jam, Innsbruck open-air and many other venues. In April the RUFF RIDER-maxi from the CD THE VIBES OF THIS REALITY was released, containing 3 different high-tech-electronic versions of the song.
It showed the wide spectrum of Dubblestandart, at that time with break-beats & progressive stuff. This recording was also the beginning of a new project of lead singer Paul Zasky and previous DS-drummer Robbie Ost, soon to be called Runners High.

1989 -1997

Dubblestandart has worked as a backing band for Jamaican Dub Poet Lilian Allen on her tour 1993 through Austria, Germany and Switzerland and in 1991 performed live on stage at the Rockhouse Vienna together with Lee Scratch Perry, following a number of recording sessions held at the DS-Studios, the so-called Controller Station. The material recorded has not yet been released.

Since 1991, Dubblestandart has played on every big Reggae-Festival that took place in Austria: We have been to Wiesen Alpin Vibrations, Reggalized Festival Breiten-bach, Irie 1992 Vienna as well as other notable festivals. As supporting act or opening band we have been on stage with Ziggy Marley, Jimmy Cliff, Mad Professor, Israel Vibration, African Headcharge, Bim Sherman, Macka B, Hypnotix, Nina Hagen, Hans Soellner, Robotix Band, The Temptations, Supermax, Black Uhuru, Burning Spear, and many more.
Since 1991, DS has more or less been a significant presence on the Austrian airwaves, performing, giving interviews and being guests on various radio shows, as for instance Rebel Radio, Silly Solid Swound System, FM4, Treffpunkt OE3, Radio Rot Weiss Rot and also the private station Radio CD. The song Always Your Ways (CD Feel the Balance) was heard frequently back in 1992.

Brand New Toy from our EGALICA CD climbed to spot #9 in the top hit list of songs most frequently played on Austria's Radio OE3.
In early 1992 DS won the DJ Contest of the Austrian Radio show 'Musicbox'.

1988

Dubblestandart was founded in 1988 by Paul Zasky, Robbie Ost, Martin Marek and Gerhard Warnung, first starting with the production of experimental dub tapes and hard-core dub reggae live-shows with Christoph Kaiaba aka Rootscontroller on the microphone. Each of the members having grown up in a middle-class environment, the DS musicians came together between the ages of 17 and 19 and soon embodied a kind of rebellious image within the conservative Austrian pop scene.

The dub scene in Austria was nonexistent at the time, so it was Dubblestandart doing their thing, basing everything they did on reggae and dub: Inspired by people like the Upsetters' black-ark sound, I-Roy, On-U-Sound, Jah Shaka, and the rest of the reggae & dubadelics, Dubblestandart developed a different kind of reggae - one influenced by post-new wave and psychedelic pop.

Always surrounded by people from the so-called illegal underground, the group soon started to voice their support of the legalization of marijuana in response to, and vehemently opposing, the destruction of young lives inherent in the increasing use of alcohol and chemical drugs among teenagers and young adults.
Raising awareness of and combating Austria's high degree of racism, the lobbies in local politics, the media's superficiality and society's manipulation on the part of the business community constitutes Dubblestandart's raison d'etre as well as some of its main political causes.
